Not much happening in the gulf today! I usually launch my canoe around 19th st on the beach targeting kings and whatever else will pull drag, but today was slow. I stopped at GBBT and they didn't have any 1lb bags of bait, there was NO bait to be found from the shore out past the 2nd sandbar either. I was determined to catch something and started tossing artificials, the Ladyfish were cooperative and there weren't any sharks there to eat them like on saturday. I had a cuda all the way to the canoe but the hook pulled before I could lip gaff him, It ate a x-rap. The excitement was an unidentified fish blowing up my big pencil popper, it wasn't a king, shark, or jack from the way it hit, but it gave me a glimmer of hope. Hope the pier did better than me.

Ling are in the bay this time of year.... Mike ran up on a 25lb and a 40lber by EPA a few weeks prior to this post. I also got a ling on the north side of the island trout fishing on the salt and pepper bottom...
