I am working on my second rod build. It is a Cobia rod on a Rainshadow 1089. So far I have the butt section done. I have done a green and black tiger wrap and I remembered to use color preserver on it this time. I made a short little video of the tiger wrap on the drying motor. The video only shows a little of the depth, and color changing. It is my second attempt, so I am extremely excited by how it is turning out so far.

Thanks Bob, but sorry, I am gonna have to pass on the gift idea for now.

BTW the green is much brighter and more prominent in person. These wraps kind of freak out cameras that have Auto adjusting going on.

Thanks for the comments.

The second one is light years ahead of the first. The main reason for that is that the first I didn't think about using color preserver. I used a bright yellow thread that basically disappeared. The effect is still there just not as prominent. Also one the first I only put one coat of epoxy between the wraps. The more the better. I used 3 coats this time and the 3D effect is crazy. It plays tricks on your eyes. As you move the rod around the black stripes become green stripes and the green becomes black. There is still a TON to try with this technique. The effects are crazy and it is really not that hard  to do, it is just time consuming waiting for the 3 coats of epoxy to dry. I have heard of people doing as many as 6 coats on their wraps.

So yea the second is so much better than the first. Next time I may do a metallic thread in the bottom wrap.
