you need 4 things to do this project:
1) 712z
2) a donor reel
3) a dremel
4) screwdriver

you need to began by taking the cheap donor reel which in this case is a little shakespeare and dremel the bail off at the roller

after that take the remove the roller. there should be a roller, washer, and screw

after that remove the bail off the 712z. for some reason on mine the bail wire would pull out so i had to dremel it off. just unscrew the bail and roller then put the washer and roller against the bail arm and screw it in. i then dremeled like a 1/16 of an inch off the counterweight. i turned the counterweight as far away from the slot as i could

turned all the way around:

after that i that i had a smoother and better 712z.
finished product:

Hey Jace looks good but you're going to need more line....just kidding.  How's the balance feel?  Does it wobble when you reel.

yes the roller does roll. without the washer though it doesnt. also if you use braid it sometimes gets stuck in between the washer and roller but i readjusted the washer and it stopped but if you just use mono thats never a problem.

i was going to say you may have to have more than 1 donor reel because one roller may not fit but another one will
if the line can get in between the roller, thats not good

I got to check out Jace's reel yesterday and he did a great job balancing the reel, unfortunately he still needs more line.
