706z for sale

you read it right. new program, buy a greenie and sell a black. this is a gold spool with a nick,rub,scratch and rash here and there. it is not by any means a trashed reel. spool decal and emblem intact. it has a plastic side plate and a minimal noise roller. 135 bones. will be in gulf shores next weekend and can bring it with me. pics up later...

blaminack

I wish that I wasn't cursed with this infernal left handedness.
stvtackett

blam, spend the offseason looking for a trashed 706 as all you need is the rotor and spool. put the rotor and spool on your 705. i've never done it however suppose to take all of ten minutes and you have an instant 707. i'll be looking also. if the parts do not match send da reel to me 40 bucks later powder coat on da reel.

could get more on e-bay, but i aint tring to make a livin at it. just pass on some quality chit. got to pay for a rod from obie. got a reel in da mail today, 2 spools on da way, 2 greenies on da way and momma lookin all crazy. i might get da mack slap if the mail man keeps ringin da door bell.
the original pier pest

Well I just bought three reels and am about to purchase a clemens rod wrapper so that I can begin building my own rods and maybe when I get good enough I can start build some for other people
blaminack

I will keep my eyes open for this idea Steve. My 705 is a greenie, would the 706 donor reel need to be a greenie?
stvtackett

should not matter..
outlawsr <0)))>{

steve you get some more for 125 let me know ill be a bank for them
outlawsr <0)))>{

shhhhhhh steve dont let the cat out of the bag buddy

steve, i'll be in FL oct 10-18. as you know, all of my 706's were stolen a few months ago... i traded a pair of glasses to dan (WRD) a few weeks ago to get one. i'd kinda like one more to fish with and i've been working too much lately to compete with your craigslist skills. so, if you have another you want to get rid of, let me know what you'd like to trade, or how much you want.

you will LOVE that clemens. once you get used to it spinning backwards, you'll never go back to anything else.
kingv1000

where can i find a spool or two for a 706z ?  noticed you found some steve
stvtackett

king, one i traded a 706 rotor for it and the other i traded a brand new 706 green side plate with medallion. it had a cost to get them out of the woodwork. they can be found but tend to be expensive. there are some people on this board that have em but they are more likely keeping thiers for an emergency. if me or dredge need more i do not know what i will have to do. you could buy them and part them out and keep the spool. rotor will bring 50 to 60, handle will bring 20 to 25. would not want to do it but a option none tha less. last option is use a 704 spool, gap is big but it will work...anyway i'm going to continue to look even though i am good right now...
kingv1000

ok . thanks for the info . kinda figuerd they were used ones that you guys were luckin up on . im workin on reproducing the spools with more line capacity soon got the design in the cad program now just gotta tweak it and figure out the best material to make them out of . thought about billet or high grade alluminum and have them anodized several diff colors also can offer personalized ingraving too. i have a haas cnc lathe that we make ducati motorcycle parts with should have a prototype on a month or so think you guys would be interested ?    hope to start making rotor cups also this winter
stvtackett

i volunteer me and dredge to be a field tester..... i know it would be hard, but hey its hard being me already.
kingv1000

 i hear ya, seriously though ill need atleast one person from each pier to test and spread the word . would you go for anodized ones for the greenies or do you prefer the powder coat process for that matching look cause i can do anodizing in green too
stvtackett

prefer powder coat, just in case i want to change colors. but hay beggers can not choose.
the original pier pest

Hey I will test one for you. Also make dredges extra storng he has a tendency of blowing them up.
kingv1000

yeah well i thought about keeping a certain # of them unfinished and either powder coating them or selling them and let the cust finish it how ever they want . we just got back from our anodizer thurs doing some q.c. and the green is nice i think it would match great but its all personal pref. gonna do gold first though ill let you guys know when ive got a finished product prob make a trip down to fish and showem off
the original pier pest

Hell I would take one in raw form. I think it would give it an industrial look to it.
kingv1000

theyll look nice unfinished our lathe is awesome super clean machining but they'll need some kinda finish for corrosion resistance but could be finished clear . i did mention more line capacity right ? shootin for a significant amount more depends on tolorances . they will look exactly like a original except for diff colors and hold more line

7075 aluminum is used for highly stressed structural parts. Applications include aircraft fittings, gears and shafts and dredges spools

i work with aluminum every day on boeing aircraft thrust reversers
outlawsr <0)))>{

I think a trade mark gun metal colour would be a kewl trade mark for you guys it would match all reel colours and would give it a strong tough look to the reels
kingv1000

i actually have some 7075 that would work . prob start with that.      i like the idea but i see so many people with customized rigs, red, blue, greene and gold and i thought it would be cool to be able to get performance parts to customize there 706 . idk im having fun doin mine and figured im not the only one needing a spool so .......here we are
stvtackett

hey king show us some custom work. luv dat custom..
kingv1000

dont have any pics of my fishing gear as im just starting rebuild this reel and need a spool have a couple more 706z 1 on a pac bay 1 on a penn rod also a 704 and a couple shimano rigs for fresh water and bait rigs for salt  but you can check out our site for mainly ducati motorcycle parts but alot of the parts are made in house and you can see the quality. ill get some pics up soon
kingv1000

duh the site is TPOparts
Kingfshr

I would be very interested in custom 706 spools painted or anodized. I'll be watching how this develops.
kingv1000

     well its expensive reproducing parts especially if your only gonna have 1 or 2 made so i wanted to get an idea of the demand and it sounds good so far atleast enough to help offset my costs for designing, tooling and finishing . atleast i know i wont be taking the hit alone and we all can get spools whenever we need . i figure ill have to sell 10-15 to break even but still dont know costs exactly ill get an idea this week hopefully and maybe give you guys a ball park figure for what they costs.   then ill have a perfect excuse to make frequent trips SE to fish and test em

I will volunteer to test them on the PCB pier for you.
outlawsr <0)))>{

Well let me tell you what I found out it is really expensive to have parts made. I called around to see what a main gear would cost to have made for 706 they told me about the 20th place online I sent pics and  stuff to to see how much was still high but not as high as the rest. They told me if i buy 25-30 gears it was like 37-40 dollars each if i buy 31-45 it ould be like  30-36 each if i bought 46-100 it would be 24-30 each that would be the ticket if we could buy 46 gears or more it would be a good deal
kingv1000

 i know its expensive but i can avoid alot of the costs already having the tools and machinery needed , itll be time spent designing , materials and run time plus finishing . i personally would spend 50 on a main gear if i could get a new one or two just to have on hand but having 4gs layin around to have a hundred made ...ouch
outlawsr <0)))>{

yea ouch
