i don't think it is worth that or even close. but i could be wrong, you run up on someone really wanting one and bam it's worth it. i personally would not pay that much for it as i know with patience i would find one cheaper. in the past year i have saw 2 on cl, one new for 200 bought it, one nice for 75 missed it. 375, don't do it james, saw a new in the box 706 cheaper a couple of weeks ago..

that has been there for a while huh, won't bring that money collectibility. and i truly think a fisher would buy a vs before a 707 with that money.i had ne nicer that didn't i calvin... one thing for sure is i am glad i am not left handed. i can buy them resonable for myself, bought this yesterday for a hundred bones...

Trying to fish a manual is rough if you are a lefty. There are so few options. Even 303/403s are fairly hard to come by in comparison. I have finally got a Greenie 705 but I need to get a manual for it.

I would love to find a new 707 but to be honest I would continue saving up for a Van Staal at this kind of price. The reason is this... Eventually the 707 is going to need parts. They are getting so hard to find that even something small can make it useless. While it is an OBVIOUS rare reel, I cannot see my self paying over 200$ for one. It would just cut into the money that I would use for the Lefty Van Staal. I am speaking with my lefty logic as a person that doesn't have reel collection money. I have to buy a reel to fish with and at 450$ there is no way that I could take the risk of messing it up and not being able to get parts. What if I broke the handle? Sure I could get a 705 handle but my reel would not be the same. Can't risk it.

This exactly the reason that I bought a VS.

I completely agree...to a point. Here's my stance from another "lefty" perspective. The 707 is not even a true left handed reel. Only the Mitchell and Van Staal are true lefties. The 707 spins the same way as the 706. I have a couple of green 707's. I don't fish them because they are not true lefty. And since they are in terrific shape, they are strictly collector pieces IMO. $200 tops for a "fishing" reel is good. Anything higher and you're buying for a collector piece and the sky is the limit on how much you want to pay vs how much you perceive something is worth. And like you said, knowing that you can get a Van Staal for just a little bit more kinda negates the whole idea for a lefty. I offered my VS150 w/ a lifetime warranty up for trade for the black 707 but he rejected, I assume due to having to pay 25 bucks to get my name removed from the reel and add a new name. I could offer a spotless 250 but I don't want it that bad.
