9/30/09Woohoooo... No - not wahoo, but close!! Left the pier at 1:30pm and from daylight to that point there were around 12 sailfish spotted - two ate. Roddy hooked up on one with bait and it jumped off after a show. I hooked the other one on my good ole Bass assassin but it spit (choke!!!). Around mid-morning around a dozen mahi-mahi popped up from the south and all Hell broke loose. I think five were hooked and two landed. I was one of the lucky ones on a (you guessed it) Bass assassin. Mine weighed around nine pounds, but Roddy lost a good 16 pounder to the piling gods. He said after losing that one and the sailfish - he might as well lose a smoker king for a grand slam crappie day. The bobos went crazy too. I hooked somewhere around fifteen and landed ten. It was tough getting them in when you had to venture into Hell (the west corner of the T with all the a) sun dried remoras, b) assorted step stools, c) leaning rods and d) folks knitting sweater and chattering in a foreign tongue going on around you. We've decided the pier mgmt needs to have a helmet rack co-located with the rod holders to make trips to Hell and back safer!!!
All in all, a wonderful first day back for me after my hand surgery in June. Trouble is though I am having it cut on again the end of October. At least I had a great day to remember.
No pics!! I broke out the camera - hit the "on" button - and zippo!!! After I got home, cleaned the fish and cleaned up, I went to change batteries in the camera and guess what?! I had the prick in backwards!!!!!!

That's a shame. That would have made a great picture, just not one for this forum.
