Dang RemorasJust curious if anyone had any theories to why all the remoras this year? I have never seen such a presence of them before.. I'm wondering if it is because we have had such a blue water push this year, not to mention all the sails, mahi, and whale sharks. Just don't remember ever having this big of a problem with them. I was just curious if anyone else had any thoughts about this???

It's 'their time'
Seriously, everything has it's cycles and remoras is on the upside right now.
They are always bad in late summer, but it seems this year is as bad as ever
I NEVER advocate wasting sealife, but have heard they make great fishcakes!

It's crazy how many there are. Sounds like OIP is having the same problem. I have no idea why so many.

It is because the Cobias are bullies and have obviously forced them off of all of the whale sharks.

Was in need of something for cut bait and kept a few of them a couple years ago, they worse than anything I ever cut.The reds don't like them but the sailcats eat them pretty good.Next time will try harder for other baitfish.

it says in the marine calendar that the state record on sharksuckers is 4lb 7 oz...I believe that I've seen several that have come over the rail that were bigger than that!
