It's fixed now for multiple choice
kingling

cigs,threadfin,ly-in the summer
spanish,white trout,hardtail,goldfish-spring or fall
bayoubuz

I like LYs, hardtails, and thredfins best, but I don't mind snobbling a cigcicle at all if that is what they prefer.

Will Kings hit pinfish?
bayoubuz

Yes, kings will eat a pinfish. I have caught many kings on pinfish when I couldn't find anything else for bait. My son caught a 20 plus king off GSP a few weeks ago on a pin.
kingling

ive seen alot of big kings come in and look at a bunch of cigs and threadfins but he will eat the first diffrent bait[bluefish, spanish, baby bonita]
so if you catch a bait that is diffrent than the rest of the baits out there put it in your cooler for later on incase a good one comes in
benk250

i agree with ben. iv seen some very big kings window shop for a while lookin at cigs and eat the first spanish or bluefish that hits the water.
kingling

ben you know about the goldfish dont you
Bama

I've seen a couple of big kings taken using skipjack. This was offshore though. Anyone ever tried it successfully from a pier?

I watched ChefGuy hook up on a King about 20# yesterday evening on a lady. Hook pulled just before the gaff.
jewfish

I had a #30 king take a ladyfish off the back of a sabiki rig a couple months back. Also, they caught a #53 king off the Jacksonville pier a couple years ago on a ladyfish as well.
pierbird

I've seen Mike catch king on ladyfish

Whatever bait is around the pier and I usually snobble it live until it's dead and then until it either gets eaten, thrown off, or falls apart.

thats the way ha

I cant belive you guys would rather use an ly or something rather then a cig..I want a cig or a spanish when the big boy comes in the spread..Mingo will work too..
Justin

Anyone ever seen one eat a needlefish/houndfish? I would think a bigger king would go for one, just never seen it personally.

The last three sails I personally saw hooked hit two live threadfins and one dead Spanish sardine. I horned one on a dead cigar and saw another also horned off on a dead cigar.
Dylan

The thread is on Kingfishing though not sailfish..I caught a sailfish a few years back on a live threadfin..If it were sailfish give me a live threadfin or ballyhooter..
Dylan

I forgot baby Bo!....Id fish only cigs if i had an unlimited supply of good ones..Then the big boy comes and a spanish, baby bo or bluefish will do the trick..

Yep. Did not look before posting. I personally perfer a dead cigar usually for Kings but if the pier is loaded with LYs that is what I will be fishing, LIVE.
Dylan

Live cigs are like gold IMO..And when you do catch that baby bo theres usually nothing going on..
Dredgfish

Cigar I think Wayne would agree as well
jewfish

Live herring, hooked in the tail with a #6 treble.
saltwaterjunkie

I like to troll big Ribbon Fish or Blue Runners Offshore
jewfish

Offshore I will use live bait if I find a good school of fish or if I am fishing a tournament. Otherwise, I troll Windcheaters with no wire leader.
