gator glass

got a new gator to wrap. there is an area where it looks like ther is too much coating. it chipped a litle and can see the glass. what can i do to hide this ?
debigone23

prolly just put more glass on it but ernie or obie will know the true answer!!
Tiderider

Without seeing the blank I can only imagine how much of the top gloss coat is missing, but there is a product called perma-gloss which should fix your problem.

have you ever coated a whole rod with this ?
Tiderider

No but I'm pretty sure Ernie has and I know I've read about other builders using it on entire rods.
fishhead0429

is it better than flex coat ?
Tiderider

It's not as thick or as heavy as flexcoat.  That is why it's recommended for light rods and for a thin finish over the blank.  It will actually hold guides onto the blank without thread strong enough for fishing believe it or not.
kingling

i know a man that has used the stuff to put guides on a little rods
on one of them he caught a 27lb king off of ft pickens pier

Check out this rod building message board associated with a rod building supply company, for more info than you will ever need about Permagloss. I linked one thread, but if you want to search for more posts you will have to register, only takes a few minutes and the price is right a.k.a. FREE.
