Gulf State Park Pier progress report...Monday May 19 I was invited (by Ken Cooper of http://www.orangebeach.ws/ ) to tour the new Gulf State Park Pier site.
Kudos to L.C.I. Inc. President David LaGasse and Project Superintendent Greg Thacker for taking the time to show us around. 8)
These guys were great! They really gave us a royal treatment, hauling us around the site,
answering all our questions and generally giving us the 411 on
the construction phase of the new pier, parking lot and saltwater intake system 8)
In a nutshell, I really believe we could be fishing out there in less than a year :bounce:
Progress on driving the pier piling was slowed by the terrible weather we had in March, April and beginning of May.
But just this week they have had three consecutive days to drive piling for the first time this year.
Still they are now about even with the end of the old pier and are driving in piling for the second platform.
The end will be another 700 or so feet from the end of the current construction.
This is gonna be an awesome structure to fish from
I really 'geeked out' taking over 50 pictures so I'll try to follow up with a timely report of what I saw and learned.
Thanks again Ken, David and Greg :D

Looking good pier#r
Hopefully the weather stays nice throughout the summer. That way they might get ahead of schedule. :fish:

COME ON DAVEwith all of that sun, no wrap arounds? it looks like you can walk down the middle of tha pier safe from jerk jiggers. that could eliminate some of this now if trollys are outlawed everything will be o.k. since you have cracked the code of the click maybe you could help with the rules on the new pier since no one that has anything to do with running it fishes.

How high is the deck above the water? It appears to be shorter than the PBP.

The deck will be 20 feet above the water (the old GSPPier was 18 feet).
I'm not sure what the height of PcolaBchPier is
But I get a nose bleed sometimes

I've heard PBP is 30 feet it seems like 50 at times. IMO 15-20 is an ideal height for fishing.
Thanks for the report and info #r.
