Hey gentlemenGuess I'll start posting instead of lurking now that I'm FINALLY moving down there. Marine in Quantico now, originally from Birmingham, moving down for flight school next week. I plan on doing a lot of shark fishing (catch tag release), a good amount of pier fishing and some kayak bay fishing. Any advice on a location to live? Should be at the Airstation a couple months then up at Whiting, I'm planning on splitting a house for rent somewhere.
Can't wait!!!! Been too far from the ocean for too long.

Welcome to the forum  and thanks for your military service. I suspect you're going to want to live somewhat close to Pace, but if you live in Pensacola you'll be going against the traffic in the mornings and afternoon on the way to Whiting so that could work out to your advantage.

Thank you, and my pleasure.
I think we've decided on Gulf Breeze. Later on we will move closer to whiting.
Can't resist living that close to the pier, I'm looking forward to meeting you guys.
I'll be looking to form some shark fishing alliances as well. My roommate reels a baitcaster upside down, I'm scared to see what he'll do to a 12/0

Welcome aboard. I was in your shoes in August 1956. I reported here to preflight, Then to saufley, Whiting, Barin Field, Memphis and back to Pensacola flying F9F-2 Panthers. I have fished on the Pier since about 1959 off and on. Retired here in 1975. A lot of students live in North East Pensacola.Very convient to everything. About 15 miles to NAS and 20 to Whiting. Know you will enjoy it here.

Yeah...NE P-Cola would be a good split...straight down Scenic to get to the pier...I-10 to 110 to get to Mainside and then just a little bit north of ya would be whiting...But 110 can be a BEEEACH in the AM
