I met a music LEGEND today.I was working at the Red Bar in Grayton beach and apparently a music legend is a regular performer there and I had no idea. I met John Jabo Starks. Jabo is famous for being the drummer for James Brown from 1970-75. He has a reputation of basically creating Funk drumming. His drum breaks have basically built Hip-Hop and RnB, and his music is foundational in Drum and Bass dance music. Literally the guy is a legendary drummer. Trust me, YOU HAVE HEARD HIS MUSIC.
Now I know this has nothing to do with fishing, but I thought some of ya'll would be interested.
We had a really nice conversation. We spoke a little of the music business and most interesting we talked about the topic of sampling.
Look him up and you will see why this was so cool to me.

Yep,Jabo is a cool cat,matter of fact,all of the Red Bar band members are pretty cool.In my single days,I use to frequent the bar.The best times were the 90's when Ollie dj'd late night and pissed off all of Grayton Beach,cuz the noise ordinance was 11pm.My wife and I lived in Seagrove and always enjoyed the Red Bar.The single life in the early 90's were C-R-A-Z-Y there.

The weird thing is that I have worked at the Red Bar dozens of times and had heard of the Waco Ramblers, Dread Clampitt and several other of the bands that play there but I had no idea that Jabo was there. Cool stuff.

Yep,Jabo has played drums there for years in the house band.Very good times and lots of fond memories of that joint.Btw what have you been doing there?

Cool. They do have new manager that I have never seen before. Quite pretty. I don't recall her name but she had a spanish accent.
