OK, I can't believe I'm the first guy having to make this post. But here's my first ling jig for 2008. Let's see them as you built them. Click on the picture to get a better view.

I actually tried to make this post a week or so ago but I couldn't get the pics to work. Nice looking Jig Obie. Is it a nickel finish Mustad?

I ended up finding some Mustad model 91750, 8/0 size O'Shaughnessy Jig Hooks. I hope they are stout enough.

Obie after we left Acadamy today the temptation got the best of me. I fired up the lead and poured three. Heres the result -1 redo from last year 3 New
and two baby ling jigs.

That jig looks awesome obe!

I think im set on pomp jigs for now I have tied close to two hundred.

Nice work on that jig Obie. I'd eat that. Just finish my first batch of pomp. jigs for this season. Sorry no pic. currently in the market for a digital camera. Got to love catching fish on your own creations. Can't wait to get them in the water.

BBBoy, that is a nice mix of jigs. I've been looking for that burnt/rust orange color here in Destin with no luck. The only place I've seen carry that color was Howel's in PC.

Yes they are. I used the rings on these. Ikept breaking the hooks when trying to bend.

If you're breaking them then they are not hot enough. I wait until they glow red.

I guess I've been lucky but I've never broke a single hook. But like I said I make sure they are glowing red before I twist and bend.

This is my first time tying jigs but here are a couple I hope to feed to the fish this spring

Rob those look great. You may want to trim the hair right up against the bend of the hook for the jigs you're going to use for pompano. They are notorious for short striking.

Yeah, Obie is dead on with that tip. I trim the hair on mine all the way to the bend of the hook for just that reason.

Those look REALLY NICE T.mass . The Barb has been the subject. That looks like it will hold on a head-shake. Those jigs will be bright enough to work it in a fishes face at 40 yrds And give him that pop to make him strike!!!!

Boy Tmass that last one is WICKED! Thanks for the tips everybody I will trim up those pomp jigs this weekend. I am banking on that jig in the top right corner its my version of the poplar electric chicken color.

But that is a great plan because the first one counts best and they come early.They are usually the big boys.

Pat you have a great point. I really considered building a second jig but I still have a well proven jig from last year that I can use for a spare.

Have you ever seen a school of Spanish Mackerel bust into a school of squid? The different variations of color in the aftermath is spectacular.

Firedawg, those jigs you tied up look good. It'll be killer watching a ling being tantalized by those long tails.

I don't know if these two will catch a ling but they do look nice.

I hope the Cobia like them, I know the Stripers on the west coast did. I was bored so I modified a few of my glow jigs. I don't know if it was more to please me or the fish, but I like them better with big eyes!

haha... i think dan has 10-15 heads. i kept 4 big bens and 4 alabis. i didnt plan on it, but i painted them all up today before the rain :)

I was bored so I have been fixing up some jigheads, I can't wait to throw them at something. I guess I will have a few more Blue Moons and sharpen my hooks, so I might have bandaids on all my fingers!!!!!

Here's a couple of more freshly tied jigs. Those extra heads belong to Boggy Basin Boy and Chasintails when we get up together. By the way I just got 50 of those pretty long red tipped feathers, they're kind of pricey but if anyone needs some they are 75 cents each or 2 for a $1.50 (same as I paid with shipping).
