lube

i was wondering what parts and maybe what kind of lube yall use on your reels...i have never lubed a reel up or even done anything with it but i would like to learn, any suggestions?
Tiderider

That's good question. I use Penn Lube for the gears, Penn oil for the rollars and handles and such and Penn cleaner to keep the outside and my rods looking sharp. The Penn lubes are full synthetic and they hold up well. I also recommend putting a squirt or two of oil in the gear case with the grease.

do you clean it in warm soapy water at all or is that bad?
Tiderider

Yes you can clean you reel with warm soapy water, or you can just wipe the old lube off everything the reassemble and lube. I usually have a roll of paper towels handy when I start cleaning reels. What reels in particular are you working on.
