Monday 9/7A lot of spanish on the pear but the dolphins where everywhere, 1 king today was caught by Dylan and was a big one weighing almost 40 pounds and was foul hooked in the back. It ate a spanish as soon as it hit the water and almost spooled him, when we could see the fish it was dead so no hassle gaffing him. Dylan was twitching from all the excitement and you could see it in his leg. A nice day though..

Thanks buddy..Couldnt of happened without your Spanish and yall clearing the rail..Right when I hooked it I was shaking from the adrenaline..Mr. Paul gaffed it and it came in dead..The 403 held up..

Here it is..It weighed 3 diff weights..37lbs..38.5lbs..and 40.5lbs..Im saying 37..When I saw it I ran to my cooler and grabbed a Spanish Zach had caught..When it hit the water I was on..Not a lot saw it but everyone saw it eat..

Congrats on the fish Dylan, looks like I shoulda ran out there while I was fishing Sikes this morning. Also for anyone who cares the ballyhoo are plentiful off Sikes right now.

Thanks D...My brother just called and he caught a 15lb King..The only 2 of the day..Weird...Spanish were biting for 10 minutes at a time today..They were thick but then Flipper would move it..He would stay for 20-30 minutes and then the Spanish bite would start over...I have been catching them with 20# 7 Strand and small cigs from Hot Spots..They turned off the cigs today after awhile and were eating bubble rigs and gotcha lures of all things..I ran out of white jigs and didnt get another bite until the King..Thanks for Mr. Pat and Paul and Mr. Greg..

I dont know what happened..It was hooked in the mouth when I jacked it and ran..I felt something weird on the way to the gaff and I guess the hook pulled then wrapped and hooked between the jaw and stomach...I think it was meant to be..After a bunch of big ones I had eaten by a bunch of idiot species this year it felt great...

thanks for getting me a drink but that fish looked so much bigger in person, that would have been crazy trying to splice with that fish running wild but he must have been fowl hooked most of the time cause he was dead after that. Your luck that hook came out when he was gaffed

I agree. The only Kings I have ever seen that came to the gaff dead were foul hooked and drug in backwards or sideways.

I agree. The only Kings I have ever seen that came to the gaff dead were foul hooked and drug in backwards or sideways. |
9 times out of 10 if flipper or a shark gets behind one of my kings I will lock the drag down and kill it by dragging him across the top. I've seen many people bring kings to the gaff dead, not just foul hooked ones, especially fish under 20lbs.

LOL...What tournament? That fish was drowned...I was doing the tarpon walk on him because he took all my line except 20 or so yards..I could see the spool..I had an extra spool in my box BUT I forgot to tell Grier to put it on backwards because my lefties are like that..

That's why i grabbed my rod with half a spool or so, I know you didn't like slowing that fish down cause that reel was HOT, now you need to take that line off cause next time you hook a nice fish it might explode on you..

There's something you guys need to know about Dylan. He has a special talent. He has the unique ability to " UGLY " a fish to death. Now this was a fish that Dylan diddn't want to lose, so he leaned over the rail and " UGLYED " the fish. It died instantly. Witnesses say that Dylan was Trembling after the killing of the fish. Unfortunatly that means he put everything he had into the killing. I guaranty the meat is ruined.
