Navarre Beach Wednesday A.M.

I walked the beach this morning from 10:30 until 12:00 hoping to catch pompano.  The water was dingy with visibiblity less than 3 feet.  Since I like to sight fish for pompano the vis made it nearly impossible to be successful today.  I did "blind" fish in several holes along the furthest west beach on Navarre Beach with no bites and saw no signs of life.  I'm sure the fish are there and I hope some one fishing with shrimp or sand fleas had better success.  Jig fishing and limited water clarity don't mix.  Peace.

Thanks for the report.  I fished from 2pm till about 4:30pm with fresh shrimp.  I didn't even get a bite.  The wind picked up blowing onshore and the water was still dingy.  I was fishing east of the pier and there were four other guys fishing.  I only saw one fish get caught...looked to be about an average sized legal pomp.   I"m gonna try again tomorrow.

I can echo what Jeff said.  I walked the same beach about the same times and didn't see squat.  Couldn't have seen them if they had been there.
Jeff, I went east while you went west so I didn't see you today.

Jim, do you think that the dingy water was bay water or is the water still dingy from last week's weather?

I fished for pomp's on Tue. for three hours off the East jetty (destin) and today off the west with live shrimp for 3 1/2hrs.  with nothing to show for the effort.  There is still a lingering line of silty water along the beaches.  With the incomming tide both days there was a noticable water change along the rocks with the bad water clinging next to the rocks (slower currents).  Backcountry charter caught one over slot red and fought a shark for a good two hours while I was out there.

Just got done looking at the swell model for the comming week and it looks as if things are going to get worse before it gets better.    Friday-Wed. winds 15-20 kts. with heavy seas 6-9ft+ coming on Tues. of next week.   :cussing:   Looks like we are in the hold pattern till this time next week.

Jeff, it really didn't look like bay water to me.  Looked like stirred up silt.
