Dang Obie, you're going to mess around and get good at that with a little practice.
Nice job!

Thanks Rob, the fella who wants it is going to use it with 12-15 pound test for kings. He wanted it a bit shorter than 9 ft so we whittled on a bit and got it down to 8 1/2 ft. It weighs in at a whopping 9 ounces.

Nice rod Obie. Did you continue the wrap under the seat , or restart after the forgrip? I want to try a continuous wrap under a skeloton seat one day.

Thanks everyone. Hey Ernie, the wrap doesn't go under the reel seat, it's two separate wraps. I like your idea of putting a skeleton seat over a fancy wrap, that would be really sharp.

I gotcha. After looking again I didnt take in account you had cork on each side of the seat, but the reason i asked is cause im wondering what would be quicker, if you didnt use grips around the seat, to wrap continuous and slid the seat in place, or mount seat first and wrap seperate sections. Im imagining to wrap up normally till you get to the area where your seat starts then do a sloppy skip over a few inches to get back on track to the foregrip wrap. You would still have to do the thread ramps , so i dont know if it would save time or not. oh well just a thought.

Your idea would be slick with a plate reel except that you would not be able to do a sloppy skip as you call it.

Either way those cross wraps are a pain in the butt. I can build two rods in the same time it takes to do one fancy wrap.

SERIOUSLY!! and last fancy butt wrap i did, dan broke the freaking rod first day! that's a few hours i can't get back. i guess it would make a fancy hand gaf for a boat if i chopped it down...
back to topic, great looking rod obie! what's the blank number you used?
