new modified Reel for the pierWhat ever happened to the reel we were talking about making from a 302 body? Someone was looking into improved gears etc. The thread was from the old forum.

gears are way too expensive on the quotes and the machine shops i talked to don't really want to attempt it. as far as the infinite anti-reverse...take your 302 and 706 and see how much line comes off in between ratchet stops. now take your VS and pull until the antireverse actually stops the rotor(there is quite a bit of play). the difference is nil. i really don't see how that can cost you a fish especially when a nine foot rod is going thru its hook setting arc! JMHO. i don't remember any other specific issues from the old thread, but refresh my memory.

I can possibly get reels with manual pickups made new, they won't be as nice as what we have now but they will work. I would just have to find enough interest before having them made.
