Opal beach fishing May 17Drove down to my pompano fishing hole, east of the Navarre pier. Hit major traffic halfway there due to the Navarre festival. Detoured, decided to fish for pomps on the west of the pier, stopped at a few places looking for a good washout, end up at Opal beach, had difficulty finding a washout, had to walk a little to find a good spot, eventually found one. Set three rods using fresh shrimp. Caught five pompano within three hours. The biggest measured 19" fork which pulled the sandspike over, yeah, forgotten to loosen the drag, big mistake, thankfully it wasnot a Jack Crevalle. A great relaxing day, decided to check the festival the next day. Great food vendors but expensive. Got pics, still having tech problems

Nice job. thanks for the report. Did you catch all of them on shrimp?

Yes, all caught on fresh shrimp purchased at WalMart $2.50lb. The beach road ends there at Opal beach, heard the entire road to Pensacola will open up late summer.
