sailfish

:thumbright:CONGRATULATIONS CARLOS     My daughter and I enjoyed the show.70 inches measured twice, something told me to bring my camera but I didn't I have not been formally introduced to Carlos so please forgive the familiarity and I'm sure he does not need anyone to back him up), but before the haters (or maybe jealous) start- I want to give my 0.02 worth:
FIRST-EVERYBODY on the pier at that time tried to hook up this fish
SECOND- MUCH CONCERN was taken on how to handle this fish.Personally, the length of the fight justified the end. Many different ways were discussed on what to do.
THIRD-Carlos was a perfect sportsman while fighting this fish, even allowing someone else the thrill of feeling the power of this trophy( I hope it wasn't a line class fish).
A suggestion if I may...see if some part of one of the pectral fins could be "inlaid" on the rod as a reminder everytime you pick it up.People mount turkey spurs(feet) beards and fans all the time, maybe the tail and the bill could be made into a rod holder because I know I would retire the rod(not the reel it can teach a new rod) or maybe the bill made into a rod butt?
At any rate CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I read in the blog a sailfish was caught. Congrats to Carlos He is a class act, glad he was the one to get it.

pretty pretty fish.

If it was  the Carlos that comes to PCB frequently with all of the Mitchells then yeah he is a cool guy. Congrats on the fish!

It was pretty awesome to see a sailfish caught. First time I've ever seen one caught. I gotta post pics from phone.

said before, don't know if i would stick it (probably would) but certainly can not fault a man who would. at any rate a sailfish off of a flat rock is certainly great catch
FishAddict

Carlos didn't stick a sail did he?

Here is a picture of the sail from the Okaloosa Pier Blog.

Beautiful fish. Chances of it surviving the fight (especially if it was a long one) aren't good, so you can't fault him for keeping it. Absolutely gorgeous.

Can't agree more. I have caught so many sailfish that I have lost count and only two have survived the fight. Maybe it was because the deckhands were hungry.

don't know carlos, have seen him, fished beside him. he is a quite dude who just does his thing. now i think he is the chit... hooking the sail on da flack rock is being in the right place at the right time but putting him on that rock i'm sure is not easy....so my hats off to that dude...
Jigslinger

Now THAT is a nice sail! Congratulations to Carlos.

Carlos is the most passionate fishing friends I have, I try to pissed him off so many times but he still a good friend of mine
Even his brother Louis (the one holding the fish head) is a good buddy as well.

sailfish

Great catch off the pier. Years ago they would catch more sails during the month of October than all the other months combined. I am hoping that means we have many more sails to come. One more report and I am breaking my reels out of retirement!!
