sailfishso after seeing, hearing and participating in catching all these sailfish ive gotone observation. seems like all of us are using wire leader. anybody tried or thought about using mono leader? i know thats what we use offshore.

Some people are. I'm still using wire and a treble hook since the kings are around. If the sailfish did get any thicker, I would have switched over to #40 flourocarbon and a 5/0 circle hook but none of my fish seemed to care about wire.

they dont see the wire cuz you are skiping ur bait across the water, so your leader is not even in the water. i dont think it maters.

One came on a dead cig, others were on live threadfins. Wire was in the water but they didn't care. Come to think of it, all but one sail that I've hooked in my life was on wire.

only sail ive ever hooked was on wire. just know that my old man uses mono offshore.

i tried 60# flouro in the yak but the spanish kept shredding it. All three fish we caught was on 30# seven strand.

see thats what i figured. i know the first time i use 50# flouro, a 60# macks gonna inhale it.
