Sunday, 11 Oct 09Got there about 5:30am...not alot going on...NE wind @ 10...one King sighted about 8am and hooked up by a tourist, but the drag was set too tight and POP goes the weasel...a nice sail was hooked up at the same time...about 50-60#...tail walked and about spooled the person who hooked it up (Name escapes me)...fish was popped off way out...HT's were everywhere...no spanish seen at all...left at 9 with zip...nil...nada...

It was ghettowrapped who hooked up on the sail. He didn't lose it though, he handed it over to his girl and she almost got spooled so they pulled the hook. What a guy, how many of us would hand the rod over to their girl on a sailfish?

 "friggin' trash"....that's what i thought when i saw what looked like a hefty trash bag swirling behind my LY...when i looked again, the "bag" took a swing at my bait and then ate...i set the hook and he promptly tailwalked to the east. figgering i would never get a chance to hook a sail again, i handed the rod off to Lisa and she got another 5 or 6 jumps out of it before it decided to head south, dumping what 15# test MONO was left on the VS150. she ethically pulled the hook out of it when we saw 3 wraps left on the spool. of course, i would have to hook a 50 pounder for my first sail! best 14 dollars we ever spent!

I had the "black Hefty trash bag" incident happen to me one time a few years back at Pcola pier. In fact Thomas N. was beside me when it happened. Neither of us hooked it though. Congrats on your hookup. Thats awesome!

i went to go buy some and didnt have any small bills...all i had was hundreds  seriously, ALL the reels will have powerpro at least for backing...believe me, lesson learned the hard way!
