Sunday morningWell it was pretty slow, with just a few spaniards caught. Threadfins, hardtails and moonpies are the baits around the pier, I did see one cig caught. Highlights of the morning included fishing with Ms Pat, Mr. Ivan and Son, Marty, Ben, Brad (Fiver) and Roddy. The water was pretty dirty on the end, SE wind.

Re: Sunday morningIt was definitely slow, and the water was dirty. There were maybe 6-8 spanish caught that I saw including a couple nice 4-5 pounders. There was 1 king caught while I was there..a small one. After deciding to call it a day on my walk back down the pier, I saw some smaller spanish and was able to get a couple on a jig. It hadn't been out there since early July, and it was nice to get out there and see some familiar faces..fished next to Ms. Pat for the first time..told her that I had put her mackerel salad recipe to good use.

Saturday afternoon was decent. Several average sized mackys. Bait was slow to get. I brought 4 mullets with me for spares. Couldnt catch nothin but moonpies for bait. Gave up on bait. Threw 1st mullet few times, cut in half! Same with second mullet. Third mullet was ate whole by a decent macky but he had knocked it off the hook!  So with a rain Squall coming & knowing football games were already started I said, "Last chance for romance"! Then someone hooked a small mackeral. While reeling it in a Large Macky skyrocketed on it eating some of it. I was already out past the explosion so as the other fish was getting reeled away from the larger one. I reeled my bait right into the zone! BOOM! Game on. Rain coming With a full on GOOGIN ASSAULT! Finally got him on the deck After many up & down the rail googin manuevers. They just wont get out of the way!  On the deck with a decent 27.2 #er! Its hard for me anymore to enjoy fishing with full on Googin assaults. Whats that? What kinda fish is that? How do you Blah Blah Blah? They drive me to  I would love to go to where they fish & hang out, Hunt etc & ask Googin Questions. Thanks, I feel better now!

Roddy is doing much better. He's regained 20-30lbs. His heart is still an issue but they need to get the blood clots dissolved before his heart can be fixed. He said the heart man thought he could fix his valve in lieu of replacement. He said if they had to use a replacement heart valve he would have to stay on blood thinner forever and his plans are to celebrate the opening of Navarre pier with a cold beer, which would be a no-no on blood thinner.

Obie, let Roddy know that I am on a blood thinner and i drink. They just don't want you to get hammered and fall and hit your head.

the best thing that happend yesterday was a pair of sail fish came in
both about 30 lbs
they didnt look at any baits and were in and out in about 30 seconds

Well, I woke up Sunday morning
With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt.
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad,
So I had one more for dessert.
....sorry...thread title made me think of johnny cash.

Hey Obie, When did Ivan's son come down ? I was there the first few days of Sept. and I don't think he was supposed to come. If you see Ivan again, tell him I'll see him again the 23rd. of Sept.

Dylan, here's the deal. I have set a goal of catching a legal King off all four Piers this year. I will probably drive strait down to Panama City Pier before daylight on the 23rd. catch my King, then drive to the Pensacola Pier that afternoon. Meet my little Birthday buddy, then, THE ( BEER'S ON ME ). :omg

 Starkle starkle little twink, who the hell you are I think. I'm not as drunk as some tinkle peep I am, hell, i've only had tee martoonies, and anyway i've got all day Sober to sunday up in. I fool so feelish I don't know who's me yet. But the drunker I sit here, the longer I get.

No Steve I did not. But I will. Is that your Pier of choice now ? Here's my plan as of this moment. As you know, I will be staying in Pensacola. So if I could just drive strait down to P.C. and catch a legal King there, and the reports are pretty good right now, then one of the next four days, maybe I can catch one at Gulf Shores Pier.

pier of choice right now, easy to fish and catching fish. pensacola about 30 minutes closer than gulf shores from b'ham. i like pensacola, but no shade to take a breather. old and fat, gota take a breather sometimes...
oip is a long haul from b'ham and some of those guy are passionate but confrontational which does not bother me, conflict is up my alley but i fish to infrequent to have it fishing..seems to me when i met you on oip pier you were understanding what i am talking about...
