...and the number one question most asked is:
1. Why don't you have your line in the water?
This has been an idea of mine for a long time. Some of you may have heard it from me before. Make a t-shirt, with the answers printed on the back, to the top 10 most questions asked by tourists on the piers. I could only think of 5 off the top of my head so please add to the list. So if we were to put the answers on the back of an ECPFF.com t-shirt it would look like so based off the 5 questions I have already.
5. *15 - 25* ft depending on pier.
4. King, Spanish, Cobia, Pompano, Redfish, Flounder, etc.
3. Jigs and either fresh frozen or live bait.
2. Gaff (giant treble hook) or drop hoop net on long rope.
1. Sightfishing.

panhandle piers don't have cleaning stations, but if you did this question would be on your list. you get it everytime your cleaning fish for as long as i remember. "did you catch that here". usually followed up with we just got off of a boat and did not catch anything near that big...

i cant really think of another question right now, but one of the things i hear people yell a lot is

No lady, they're actually special effects that we use for the tourists.
Is that a shark? Note, this can be any fish you pull over the rail.

My favorite was from the big idiot in bib overalls who asked, "What are you fishin' here for? They ain't no fish around here." He  me and my pier cart as I pushed it by him going out. He just at it when I pushed it by him going in with a Cobe tied onto the top. To quote Michener's The Bridges at Toko Ri "Where do we get such men? My God, where do we get such men?"

I gotta agree with #1 being, "Did you catch that here?"
My stock answer is, "Nope, I bought him at the fish market and dragged him out here so people would think I can catch fish."
I think #2 in most heard for me is, "Whatcha fishin' for?"
My stock answer is, "Bream". (pronounced "brim' for you pier rats that never fresh water fish)

Sunday someone caught a seagull. I untangled him, stuck his head under his wing and then announced to the pier rats that I had my limit of seagulls for the day and I was taking him and the rest home. The tourists were freaking out, the locals were probably about to piss themselves laughing.

Been there and seen that. Poor bird got dizzy again. Did you tell a tourist they taste like eagles?

I normally have people put out the fact that I'm using another fish as bait such as "your using THAT for bait?!", pointing at my cigar minnow.

A few did ask that about the big cobe while he was around but I was referring to all the women that asked if a remora was a shark.

This bird, I put him in the pocket of my sweatshirt as I walked off. Tourists were really freaking out. A little further down the pier, someone was looking at me wierd and I realized he had stuck his head out of my pocket.

I got this same question last Tuesday numerous times. I told 1 lady, "yes ma'am, you wanna hold him?". She started backing away with her eyes big like saucers.

Oh I'll never forget that. When that old lady asked you what first shot meant and you had a lot of alcohol running through your veins. That was one of the funniest moments ever on the pier.

Alright, I must Digress. I was already super pissed off with "First Sale" & den, The "12" Comandments came out with you know what as the first Stupid rule Caused by you know who?  Ole GW & Blue Dolphin! I'm so pissed off I'm spitting Blood & den? here comes Super Googin & his wife from god knows where, I'm Guessing Birmingham Strait off the river. They walk out to the end just like all Kook googins do & ask, What does first shot mean?  I say, Oh, That means whenever the first idiot that see's a fish & yells down the kook pier "Worst Shot", I shoot them Bamn! Oh that didnt go over well. Calvin was spitting his drink out his nose. Whats really sad is I was serious.  My eyes were boiling red. What kinda dumb as$ idiot would want every body to know a fish was coming? Thats my fish! First sale! I wait all year to work during ling season to sell my fish. Get a f'ing job. I fish for fun. I work for a living. Sorry, I feel somewhat better now. I dont like enjoying something for relaxation while someone all year long doing nothing has to make a living of a pier during ling season. I hope & pray Navarre isnt First sale! KEEP TO THE WOODS LING SELLERS. Wish deer & turkey hunters had to put up with that BS!

I had a tourist come up Saturday and ask me: Did you just catch that? It was still hooked to my line and flopping around......I just didn't know what to say.

the best one is when you catch a big king they ask what kind of fish it is and you tell them its what happans when you let a goldfish go in the gulf haha the little kids actually buy it hahahah or when girls come and ask what your fishing for and you reply pink snapper harharhar
