Spanish showed up again at daylight and were eating well. They stayed until about 08:00.

I got a keeper King on a Gotcha. (Dang, I hate to admit that.) Was using a little POS spinning rig that I really didn't think was heavy enough for cigar minnows but was able to land the King anyway.

Saw a couple of small Sailfish again too.

Some of the regulars were acting like googans this morning. What's up with that. One guy hooked a small Spanish that didn't look long enough to be legal, cranked it up to the rail and promptly tangled it around my line while I was trying to keep my King out of the pilings. Here he is pulling my line over so he can untangle the mess. He had his spanish in his hand so I asked him to cut it off so I could try to keep the King out of the pilings. He ignored me, pulled the lines onto the pier and proceeded to untangle his Spanish. Of course the king went around a piling. When the turkey finally got his dink Spanish untangled, I played awhile and finally got the King to come back around the Piling and Tater was nice enough to gaff it for me.

Normally, I am pretty laid back, but if that turkey pulls that stunt again, he is going to walk funny when leaving the pier. Wonder how much a surgeon charges for removing a spinning reel from a posterior? Bet it won't be cheap.
Just reinforces my belief that Spanish Mackeral fishermen are insane. And here I am, doing it too. May the great fishing gods have mercy on my soul.

I was hooked up on a spansih at the same time all of this was going on...mosylt regulars there this AM...they were eating anything ya threw down there...Jims troubles were absolutely INCREDULOUS...a LOCAL did that....HUMMMMMMMM

Jigslinger, I promise I will stay away from the squid and try not to let this thing get completely out of hand.

Is it OK to tip a Cobia jig with a piece of squid without being called a googan?
