what is a nordo?hence the name i'm new to saltwater, but what is a nordo and are they eatable,what do they look like? if you have a link to a picture that would be helpful too. i have looked and cant find one anywhere.

Nordo aka Northern Mackerel not as common on piers like it used to be but anyways.

Nordos used to be as thick as bonitos. Always crashing the baits. Those were fun days.

There are two fish I've heard refered to as "nordos" or "northerns" in the Panhandle.
Most commonly they are refering to Atlantic bonito (Sarda sarda)
(Yes, they are good eating)
The other (below) is Atlantic Chub mackerel (Scomber colias),
also called "northern mackerel". "northerns", or "nordos".
They make good live/ fresh dead baits but rarely reach a foot in length (not eaten).

northernsThe atlantic bonito or northerns seem to have mainly disappeared from the pcb pier also. They were my wifes favorite to catch and eat. Tey used to tear up some bubble rigs
