Hi. Ive been fishing the piers off and on for about 8 yrs now.  I first started going to Okaloosa, but the last 2 years I only go Pensacola. Ive been a PFF lurker for a long time, but just found this forum. Im not sure if anyone would recognize me, but I use a green garden cart as my pier cart.  The resources on this forum are already have me hooked.

Howdy all. Boodro here. I grew up fishing the Gulf Shores Pier. Excited about the rebuild, but enjoying the pier news and loving the cobe reports (and pics) here. I see some familiar names from my neck of the woods ('sup pier#r).

At the top of the page select the "profile" button.  The Avatar Control Panel is at the bottom of your profile page.  It will give you the option of "uploading and Avatar picture from your computer".  Note Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width can be no greater than 120 pixels, the height no greater than 120 pixels, and the file size no more than 8 KB.  You can determine if your picture size meets these requirements by right clicking on the picture and displaying it's properties.  I resize my pictures with a free download called IrfanView.

Great idea Obie. I grew up fishing Navarre Pier on a regular basis along with many trips to Panama City, Okaloosa, P-cola, and Gulf Shores piers. Navarre Pier and many of its patrons is a second home and family to me. I have many many outstanding memories over the past 40 years. I wish they would build it back!

I followed this link from one posted on the Jville pier site...My name is Jim Kay,,a former resident of P.cola from 76-83..Went to and worked at UWF,,Friends with Mike Turner and Jimmy and Martin Coe. If ya see  em tell em I said Hello

This site brings back plenty of memories,,Fishing both piers at Pcola and Navarre..throwing cast nets for mullet at Bob Sikes Bridge or  chasing bull reds at Pickens..Drinkin cold brews at Jerry's Drive In,,and  working at Machine Gunn Kelly's..

Fishing on the left coast was in my opinion, always better.whether it was chasing cobia from the shore,or providing cigar minnows for the whole peir with my cast net.

I reside in NC now,but get back to my roots every now then...Somebody needs to fill in some time gaps for me...
I caught my 1st king off of the P.cola pier in 77,,and would  fill a cooler with flounder and specs of the sound bridge and Little Sabine...Played Jimmy Buffett one summer by camping at the UWF property between Navarra and Pcola..........too many memories to try and relive in one post....

Hi Jim, Welcome to the forum           I was fishing off Navarre, Okaloosa and what was left of Crystal beach in 1977 and yes the fishing was fine.  We still manage to catch a few on occasion.  Jerry's is still alive and well, I'm not familiar with Machine Guns.  It's always great to have an "old timer" on here that can post about the good old days.

Thanks Cliff, I kind of wondered who cobe killer was over there.  By the way I've only been out to the pier 3 times since April myself.  I don't think we missed too much.

i didn't catch a cobe out of 17 trips to the pier this year( so cobe watcher should have been my screen name) but i learned a lot from some good people and met some new friends so it was worth every dime.

Yeah,,Obie,,I'm sure things have changed since 84..After Hurricane Freddie, me and Mike Turner  boated out to Pcola Beach from his grandfathers house in Gulf Breeze. We had to hide from the cops,as they were looking for looters and such... I was living out by the speedway at the time,,and would pack all my fishing gear on the back and sides of my 750,,and head to the beach..
There were times when I was in school during the late 70's that if I did'nt catch anything,,I did'nt eat..and I can tell you there was more then once, that the  net full of 6" mullet I caught for bait,,became dinner.

Michael and I would fish with Jimmie Coe,,I beleive his family owed Pensacola Hardware on Cervantes..Well,one night we were fishing for reds on the fender system of The Sikes Bridge..Jimmie got really drunk and passed out.We could'nt wake him up for nothing,,so as I got madder and madder((I had a 8am class I needed to be at) I dumped about 12 dead menhadens on his chest,,and we left him!  From what I was told,he woke up about 4;30 and found himself alone,,,,and he had to swim across the sound to his car.....I forget if we caught any fish that night!!1

Hi Obie,  I feel that I already know your from your blogs. I must tell you that My Husband does all the fishing. I am the sunfish, he is the fisherman. We use to live in Gulf Shores, it must be 14 yrs now since we moved back to  Birmingham. He was a deck hand and loved the pier. Every now and then he will come and tell me he had seen someone from ole'GS pier! We come to P'cola & Okaloosa every chance we get. In fact he is planning a trip this weekend to get to a pier. He perfers to go out but by the time plans are made he misses trips on charters. I do all the navigating in the forum & get with him on the articles, he does not do computers. But fishing lures, reels, rods are all over the place !  Thank you for your forum !

Hi everybody!  Just wanted to say thanks for the free invite, and recognize some names on here from a previous forum I've been on for a couple of years.

I'm not an experienced "pier" fisherman; my fishing experience comes from King fishing, some dock fishng for Trout, which I guess can be considered "pier" fishing and a little surf fishing.

This groups seems very nice and mellow, no drama, and I am excited about being here.

Look forward to many more days reading, posting, and hopefully soon, meeting you!

My name is Cindy and I live in the Perdido Key area.

Welcome to the forum Cindy.  We have a section devoted to inshore fishing which includes docks, bridges, wading and beach fishing,  we love to do all those things as well as pier fish.
Thanks for noticing that we are fisherman who talk mostly about fishing.  In the 16 or so months this forum has been up I can hardly think of a single rude or inconsiderate statement made by a member to another member, and I also thank all the patrons here for keeping things civil.   Thanks for joining up, please have fun.  Good fishing.

Thanks so much.

Results are all about leadership and example.

I love offshore, it's my true love for fishing.  I am landlocked, and at the mercy of others for being fortunute enough to do offshore fishing, but love to hang around with any gang, fishing wherever, and however.  So, please if there is an opportunity for me to come and hang around to even assist, watch or hold the net, please let me know.

Certain groups in the fishing community tend to poison the love and passion for fishing; I remain neutrel, and love to get along with everyone, just as my avatar states.  Life is just too darn short to have it any other way.
