Hey guys. I'm 22 and I've lived in milton my whole life, but for some reason had never fished salt water even ONCE until earlier this year my buddy invited me to join him to catch some pompano at the pcola pier. WOW....what a big difference from freshwater!! I can't even remember the last time i went bass fishing
So then later in the year we started fishing for king some, and I was able to catch my first king.......And now I'm hooked big time haha

Hello folks. My name is Jeff.I have spent a good bit of time in PCB over the years,my folks have had a place in Gulf Highlands since the mid 80's.
I have always fished in/around St.Andrews park, never really caught anything much though.Lots of trial/error & lost tackle. But I always could hardly wait to get back down there and try.
Anyhow, over this past Labor day weekend I met this fellow named Frank.
Frank invited me to go out onto the pier with him and one of his local PC friends named Marshall. While on the pier I also met Sean and Ben.All super nice fellas. They taught me the bait catching/rigging/do's/dont's.
I only caught some lady fish, but it was awesome!I had hooked a nice spanish mackerel only to have a 65 year old Bruce Lee next to me throw across my line and cause me to lose it.
Sorry for the long post, but now all I think about is how I cant wait to get back out there and catch some of those REAL fish. |

Thanks for the welcomes.Yes stv it really is a small world.I grew up in Austell/Mableton Georgia, but I have been in Clay County for nearly 10 years now.Not alot to do here if you dont hunt/fish though.
And about the oriental guy,it was almost like he done it on purpose.
I know he knew I had a fish on,I had been fighting it for a few minutes.
Besides all that,I had an awesome day and did'nt leave empty handed thanks to some really nice folks on the pier.Frank gave me a Spanish and someone in Marshalls group, who I didnt get to thank, gave me a King.
Cant wait to get back down, may try this weekend, depends on work though.

Heya folks. not my first post here, but I realized I never took the time to introduce myself.
First off, thanks to Manny for pointing this site out to me.
I have fished on and off on all the piers for several years, GSP, Dan Russell (Russel-Fields now I guess), OIP etc. but I am only able to make it down a few times a year now because of my work schedule. I try to post anytime I am going to be coming down and I live in Auburn,AL. so its not that bad of a trip.
Some of you I have met over the years, and I hope to meet many more. Thanks for the great site, and tight lines to all. |

First GREAT SITE!!! Alot of info here and a nice group of members...
I mostly freshwater fish in N. AL for big cats and schooling stripers. I make it down to the Gulf two or three times a year for a little surf fishing. I'm not that good at it but I've caught my share and I think this site will improve my catch! I got hooked on salty fishing about 25 years ago at the age of 13 when my rod was yanked out of my hands while playing a fish from the old pier in Pensacola. Ever since that day I have a never ending erge to fish in the salt and sand, looking for whats lurking under the waves hoping for a tight line!!!
Later all and tight lines! |

Hello all, My name is Robert, I have been on the forum for about a month now and thought I should introduce myself.
I have lived and fished in okaloosa county for my entire life. I used to fish OIP when I was a teenager in the 80's
but lost interest. I have recently started going back to the pier. I have been going out watching you guys catch kings and I would really like to try it. I plan on getting out there and giving it a shot but it's a little out of my league with all those lines out there, I don"t want to be the "googan" in the way. My mother and father are Paul and Paula from Quality Reel Repair in Shalimar.
I am hard to miss 6'4 350lb. so if you see me say hey.
p.s. thanks to Carl for removing the gotcha from my hand. |

Red Beast and Chaser, Y''all are talking my about my other fishing addiction , stripers and big catfish. We have something over here in LA called the Black River Locks, we have those Asian Carp, too. I have caught them 50 lb. and up. They are an awesome fight. We mostly use reels, rods, and lines that look like saltwater tackle. We mostly fish off the bank and long cast are needed, Good fishing and maybe one day we will meet on the pier. By the way that 20 lb. catfish on my avatar came from the locks. Hello, first post here and yes I too am coming over from FS. I really like the site and look forward to contributing. I just this year finally bought a boat but for the past 15 years have been fishing most of the piers in the panhandle. My favorite was Navarre and I am so glad to see it coming back! I live up in ATL and have not made it down this year as many times as normal. The good thing is when Navarre is back I have a free place to stay. I was at OIP back in late april when somebody got lucky.

Hello, Don Anderson from Sandy Springs Ga checking in. I sort of broke protocol (imagine a fisherman doing that) and starting posting on the PCB piers forum before I introduced myself, but this is a great site and I've really enjoyed it already.
I'm a once or twice a year pier fisherman, but I'll fish for anything anytime so I fish quite a bit all year long.
Currently watching out the window for the pier to reopen, but may head down to the jetties instead.

Hi all! My name is Rick and I retired from the military here 4 years ago. I have been in the FWB area for 21 years. I used to fish the pier alot before Hurricand Ivan. I sometimes fish the Okaloosa Pier but mostly surf fish. You will often see me just walking out and checking out the scene. I am a short balding man with glasses. Please stop me to say Hello! I also fix any type of reels and specialize in Mitchell reels. Call upon me if you need anything. Thanks for letting me ramble on. _________________ Rick C. |

Yeah I recognize those pants and flip flops. Good eye! I'm pretty sure I was in the background getting ready to snap a pic of it...which I did.
edit - different fish & pic, but there's those pants!
What else do you see in the pic besides Chen holding the ling? My cool ass radio. Mike Young watching me take the pic. _________________ Calvin Martin

Howdy Boys...My name is Joe. I run parasail operations Bahama Bobs and Pink Pony during season. I didnt get to fish Gulf Shores as much as I would have liked to this summer and fall but I really enjoy being able to fish off that pier again. You may see me some this winter down there with my little brother. _________________ You call THAT a gaff? THIS is a gaff! |

I fished the OIP starting in the 70s. Just came back this fall with my sons and had a great time catching big spanish and black tip sharks. CHS class of '82. Hoping to get back into it. This site is amazing. _________________ Go Big Green |
