I've seen some people fish for kings on a two rod system in south florida. It seems like a system that could work fairly well. I dont see that much around here.
Side question. When rigging your baitfish, whats the best place to hook it?

While it is an effective way to catch fish it is also the most likely way to anger people up here in the Panhandle. The piers up here are usually way too crowed for Trolly rigs and then to have a rod fixed on bottom is a recipe for horrible tangles which stops EVERYONES fishing. The way to go is to use the wind and current to drift baits. Just as effective and becomes a cooperative effort with every one. Not so much annoyance when you get the hang of it. _________________ Master of the obvious...
OK guys, I just tied a couple of those figure 8's and I'm liking it. It took less than 1/3 of the time that to takes to wrap them like I've been doing. I 've been making leaders for 35 years and never heard of this knot. Thanks.
In case anyone is interested, I just bought 600 yds of 18# sevenstrand for $13 delivered, attched e-bay link below. If I get it, it's a deal. I'll use it for spanish and clear clear water. They don't have 27#, already checked.
OK, I'm like a kid with a new toy. I just wrapped some leader ends and figure 8 knotted the other end. Believe it or not, the wrapped end broke not the figure 8 knot. I don't know why, but I'm sold. Now I just tried something else that I thought I'd share. I cut the sevenstrand with heavy duty kitchen shears.....they cut it like sewing thread. Maybe everyone else knows about this too, and I'm the last one in the universe to know.

I got my leader material in the mail today, 18 and 60, $23.00 delivered. I won't have to buy any for a long time if ever! Thanks for the heads up. _________________ Rob
Haywire is the way I do it. No little knubby tag end to slice you up when handling the leader with a fish on it, and less to snag on when in the water next to other baits. Obviously you still have the treble hook there but the clean snap off of the haywire leaves one less place for line to catch. _________________ Master of the obvious...
Yeah the first time one sinks a tag end of single strand in their finger from merely clipping it, is when most give up on single strand or learn to make a proper haywire twist connection. _________________ It's my duty to make fish pay for their mistakes.
i like to snell to a #4 mustad 4x strong black treble hook, and then i figure 8 to the swivel. i usually tie my leader around 18 inches. thats a little long for me, but if i need to cut a hook off, it leaves me plenty to tie on another hook without having to do another entire leader. if i cut a hook off and tie on another, i just do the figure 8 at the hook, but i still like the snell better.
ive caught plenty of fish on single strand, but it seems to kink easier therefore you need to replace it more often. i have caught many fish on the same seven strand leader when they are thick and im too lazy to switch. its not the best idea, but i sure wouldnt feel good about doing it with single strand.
i member last month i caught my limit of kings on the same leader also a couple of spanish to
