I've hear some ole timers say, "I can't remember catching kings from
GSPP this late in Nov." Can anyone add to this? Are we blessed? (as in
no hurricanes). Is this a freak year. a phenom or what? Lets hear what you think, (or know) .

I can't remember them running this late since I have been fishing it. Charlie said he had a picture from when he moved down there where he caught a king dated October 25.

Hollis latest king was NOv 7 42# Harley Rogers was week before Thanksgiving 45# These were a year apart late 70s

Not on GSPPier before (that I recall hearing).
Pcola, Navarre, Okaloosa & Pcity yes.

I've seen (and heard) them caught in boats off the AL coast up til Christmas, depending on the water temp.
Maybe since we're fishing a 'reef' in 28' deep water...

Anybody know the water temp at the pier?
It dropped a 'notch' yesterday offshore...

exact day and exact hour, can only be guessed by verifiable king catchers of the new gspp that have a username that has to be activated before right now.only 1 guess per person and guess must be made before the end on the al-lsu game.the last person activated as of right now is skint back....make prediction on this thread. the reel will be delivered in the spring as i will make sure to meet the winner. the reel will be a z and will not be beat up....screw bob riley i am a gambler...let it begin, whats up wet402, you throwin in the rod??? btw way all losers owe me a box of frozen sigs next summer.

I have a feeling there will be a few people fishing that day since the alabama auburn will be the previous day. By the way that is the first day of that week that will have a good tide cycle.

It does'nt cost to enter but if you lose it cost you a box cigs for Tackett for puttin up the reel

(only fair) and i think it should be for people who fish our pier not just any body on the forum.

I can meet him half way since I live in Montgomery. I can also store some of them for him since I have a casket style deep freezer.

fellas in light of the bad weather you guys are going to have. i am for calling this thing off. it is not a good time for having a contest. maybe try it again in the spring. maybe first cobe or king or largest cobe between 1st cobe and june first. i also think the fishers get togeather and have a first fish tournament. i don't live close enough to spear head this but i am sure you guys could get this thing going. give me some feed back, its not about the reel guys, i would give all my 706's to assure safety of you guys and your property.i've had to pick up after a couple of these things and it ain't fun. i really wish it would hit on a saturday so i could try one out. i want a small one when i get a chance...

I agree steve, maybe we could have a calcutta in the spring and use some of entry money to help fund this web site, and maybe use some to fight these damn net boats thats catchin our pomps an spanish!!! just a thought huh .

I second that. We could do like they do on whale wars. We could call it mullet mayhem. Go out there on jetskis with potato guns and prop foulers.

I am all for a spring calcutta. How about we do two seperate catagories but the calcutta covers the entry into both. Largest king and largest cobia between first capture and June 1st.
