The cam on the right refreshes to view the pier every minute or so.

EXACTLY!

It's proposed to be about 1/2 mile east of the pier between the beach and longshore sandbar.

#R you are amazing. How do you find this information

Doesn't that seem a little close to the beach    and why would they put the rest in the sound    seems like to it would make more sense to put it offshore

You're very kind Brad, I just have an insatiable quest for knowledge and information related to fishing and the outdoors.
When I see a link, I click on it. and when there is none, I "Google" it ;-)

The reefs are for snorkling, mostly by people who have little or no experience in the Gulf.
Putting them inside the sandbar and in the Sound will allow the safest venue for these 'newbies' to get a taste of what lives under the water

I'm just not so sure dedicated pompano pier fishers would appreciate the idea of a bunch of oiled up tourists romping in 'the slot' east of the pier though

wouldn't it seem like a pretty good idea to drop the old pier right where it's at. It's on the opposite side from the traditional migratory track of our target species. It would provide a good artificial reef for holding bait as well as the opportunity for tourists to explore without being "in the hole" to the east.

That would make too much sense for the powers to be to consider.  The thought that needs to be put into their heads is the possibility of the reef debris being picked up and slammed into the new pier by a hurricane.

And it being next to State Park property (as opposed to a privately owned condo

Still, it's a shame the old pier is going to barged off to a different locale

I was wondering if Inner Light was going to be back up.  I wonder if the Aloha cam on Pcola beach is ever coming back?
