yesterday i got the last minute chance to go to the pier. I was there from about 8-5. i couldn't get a spot for the morning spanish pounding, but was there for round 2 about 3 pm. Ok here is the problem, for the most part bubblerigs were getting the bite, the same exact thing I was using , but everyone else was catching about every two casts. I didnt catch @$%^. what was i doing wrong. I had the same size leader, same trailer, same return rate everything was the same. yet i caught nothing. can someone help me out here?

It could just be bad luck, or.....

How violent did you work it? You have to work it pretty violently but at a slow, constant rate.

What color was your trailer? They might have not liked the color of it.

And, how far was it being casted? I've had this problem before. You have to land it in a certain spot sometimes.

Hope this helps

Yeah it could be a number of things. Did you have a straw on the end or a jig? If I use a straw the green ones seem to work the best for me. But I usually use a white jig, the Spanish seem to like that. Are you able to cast it out far enough? If you can't get any bites just start trying different retrievals, fast/slow etc.

thanks for the info guys. i was using a straw. same color as the guys on either side of me. i even watched their retrivals and did the same thing they were doing. i tried the slow violent retrivals and the slow suttle nothing worked and i was doing everything the same way the other guys were. even throwing right behind them, throwing past them and shorter than they were but nothing seemed to work. pretty damn frustrating. i was ready to sell or give my stuff away before i left.

Did you have any wire in your rig? I'm guessing that could be it.
