ok....are you ready for round 2 of my sailfishing adventures? I headed out this morning in search of another sail. I brought a bag of ballyhoo in case I didn't find my Lys but right off the bat about 30 min into into my paddle I found to big LYs. So I let one go off the back and kept the other on my spinning reel close to my yak . Within minutes a sail comes right up to the close in bait and starts checking it out . I quickly grab the rod and start trying to get line out  to let the Ly swim, then the sail turns away and 3 secs later my other rod starts screaming. So I quickly reel the first line in and just let it swim right next to my yak, I don't want this bait to die. So I grab the rod that's going off and I am not lying I think I was pulled at least 1 mile offshore. After about 30 or so min I get him close to the yak he is lit up and WAY bigger then the sail I got a few days ago. He starts tailwalking in front of me and I was so nervouse he was going to jump right on top of me I quickly let some line out to get him away from me. And then.... I look out of the corner of my eye and I watch a mahi inhale the other ly that is literally inches from my yak and that rod starts sreaming. Now I'm several miles offshore and I have a sailfish at my bow and a mahi peeling drag on my stern. The sailfish is done, so I get him yakside and quickly release him and off he goes. I was exhausted from the sail and then the mahi put up a good fight lots of jumps and finally got him gaffed and in the yak. That was the longest paddle back in fighting north winds but it was and epic day and believe I won't top today for a VERY long time!!!Wish I could have gotten better  pics of the sail so you could see the size of him

Amazing! What a great year you have had on the Kayak! First the Cobia and all of the flounder and then decent kings and now Sailfish and Mahi. Incredible. Time to put the license to use and start the guide business!

Awesome v2.0! People burn thousands of gallons of fuel for fish like this and you catch them off the beach. Do you have a sister who's single?!?!?!?

Hats off to you Linda. I think Brad at Sunjammers should sponsor you.. seriously..

I gotta get me a kayak.

Lets see, coming from Atlanta to PC and bring family, some 8 and 9 foot rods, a pier cart, and a kayak on the roof.

The Griswold's on vacation.

Linda, we are running out of praises and words to say about your fishing skills. You are acting like a seasoned captain  and you are doing it just off the beach in a yak, WOW! I would imagine you may start seeing a floatilla of craft around you soon be it yaks or boats. Again hats off!!

Can you imagine what a sleigh ride it would be if you were to hook up a wahoo from the kayak?

If she hooked a wahoo, and who knows with her luck it would look more like a wind surfer out there and she may end up around the Bart or even further out but a fun ride none the less.

Congrats on 2 fine fishing trips, as I sit here in landlocked North Miss I can only dream of such a catch.

This is my first post on this forum, it may be off toopic, please excuse if it is.  I have been monitoring for a few months.  I get to fish down there 3 times a year, rest of it is spent watching you guys.

I have one question, is it ok to share the pics that are posted on this forum, I have some friends that would be really impressed with these.

Also, let me commend all of you who post on this forum.  I am a member of other forums and I see a lot of comments that are less than classy.  All of you are first class, you seem ready and willing to share and also have a good sense of humor.

I was seriously contemplating contacting a Sports writer or broadcaster about the amazing nature of the story, but thought better of it. I am sure Linda and Ernie and the rest of the Kayakers that we love don't need to see the Googan Armada paddling out and ruining their fun.

Bill, everytime I paddle out I look around me in amazement wondering where everyone is...

My guess is there will be about 10 kayakers out in front of the okaloosa pier during tarpon season next year...the year after that about 50...the year after that no one will be on the pier but hardtail fisherman.  The sport is blowing up and once everyone figures out how awesome it is there will be kayakers on every stretch of beach from PC to Pcola!  Only thing is we will still have to use the pier for cobia season because it is too rough to be standing on a kayak in April...and I love screaming FIRST SHOT!  Is it March yet?

Bill you still want to hold off on the yak purchase?  If any of the pier guys, or gals, want to give kayak fishing a try while the pier is closed just let me know we will discount the rental rates.  Maybe you could even get Linda to go with you and show you how its done!

Believe me Brad I still am wanting one. Particularly seeing stuff like this. But since I have talked to you last my wife's car threw a rod and I had tomake a down payment on a  new one with the money that I would have used to buy a kayak. Do you have a trade in program that puts nice used Yaks in to your inventory? I may be able to swing something like that sooner rather than later.
